LIVE FLEET OPERATIONS CONSOLE

What is Live Fleet Operations Console?

Live Fleet Operations Console is a driver-focused navigation tool that uses official General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) data to present bus routes as a moving map-to-route — like car navigation, but with route-specific mapping, turn-by-turn directions and next-stop guidance for bus drivers.

It highlights the route path, all stops, and the distance between stops, so drivers can confidently run unfamiliar trips, cover work at short notice and avoid off-route driving with clear turn-by-turn route assistance.

Why it matters for operators

Reduced route training time

Drivers can safely cover routes they have never driven before. The Navigator:

  • Turn-by-turn directions along the official bus route path
  • Shows exact stop locations and next-stop alerts
  • Displays the full route path on the live map
  • Shows distance to the next stop
  • Clearly indicates direction (Inbound / Outbound) and destination

Fewer calls to NCC / Bus Control

Because drivers can see the intended path and all stops at a glance, they are far less likely to become unsure of the route or need to call for assistance.

  • On-the-fly diversions can be sent to all in-service buses (In development)
  • Reduces radio traffic and interruptions
  • Lowers workload for bus control staff
  • Helps keep the network moving in peak times

Prevents off-route driving

Wrong turns, dead-end streets and unnecessary detours are minimised because the system always shows the correct path and upcoming stops.

What screen does it work on?

Live Fleet Operations Console requires Internet capability, either via Wi-Fi, or SIM.

The commonly used Handheld ALGIZ 8X has provision for both, however, any 8", or higher, screen with an installed web browser, will run the Navigator in real time.

What routes does it work with?

Live Fleet Operations Console works with all GTFS based.

GTFS data is updated regularly, maintaining consistently accurate routes for all GTFS based fleets.

Includes school/district routes for Transport for Brisbane.

Support for all driver types

Live Fleet Operations Console is particularly useful for:

  • Casual and part-time drivers
  • New starters and returning drivers
  • Drivers covering breaks, or single trips i.e Waiting Time drivers
  • Drivers rostered onto unfamiliar routes, or variations

It reduces stress and gives every driver the confidence of a regular on that route, even if they have never driven it before.

Operational reliability

  • Cover trips can be assigned with less risk
  • Unplanned absences are easier to manage

Built for the real world

The system uses official GTFS data and is designed to evolve with future features, such as closer GPS integration and route variations.
